When Kristin Miller was 12 years old, her parents decided to sell their house. Instead of seeing this as a closing door, it became a window of opportunity because it sparked her interest in real estate. “I decided to join them on their entire house search going over MY pros and cons and watching every house show out there with my mother to gain ideas,” Kristin said.
Fast forward more than a decade. As Kristin was amid selling her condo, purchasing a house AND another condo, she decided it was time to step into real estate in addition to her day job, selling retirement plans. “I loved working with my real estate agent and learning the beginning of the ins and outs of buying and selling,” she said. “The feeling of buying my very first property was probably the proudest moment of my life. That is what made me want to be able to do the same for others.”
So Kristin signed up for real estate classes with Rovithis Realty Real Estate School, introducing her to owner and broker Steve Rovithis. “I received information that seemed too good to be true, but indeed was not,” she said. “The flexibility of the classes, as I have a full time job, was amazing. Without that flexibility, I don’t know if I would have been able to take the plunge into real estate.”

Kristin’s personal experiences of buying and selling real estate have helped shape her as an agent. “The most defining moment in my life was when I purchased my very first piece of real estate,” she said. “I had the mindset that I couldn’t do it, couldn’t afford it. But I went for it, it was the most gratifying thing that I had accomplished. To be only 27 at the time and own a beautiful piece of property I purchased all by myself was an incredible feeling.”
She owes this accomplishment, in part, to her agent. It also showed her the effect a great agent can have on not just the purchase, but on a person. “My agent made sure I made the right decision by going over every little detail with me,” she said. “Without her knowledge and expertise, I wouldn’t be in the gorgeous home that I am in now.”
Kristin’s leap into real estate was the right move for her. For those thinking about making a move into the field, she encourages it. “Don’t be scared as life is too short,” she said. “If you’re interested in real estate go for it. You can try it out and see if it’s meant for you.”
